Pfizer To Pay $1M Over Ore.'s Claims It Flouted Ads Pact

Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 4:01 PM EST) -- Pfizer Inc. will pay $1 million to Oregon for allegedly deceptive marketing of two pharmaceuticals in violation of a previous agreement over misleading advertisements, the first monetary penalty obtained by a state for breach of a consumer protection settlement, state officials said Thursday.

In addition to the fine, Pfizer this week will begin airing corrective advertising about allergic-reaction treatment EpiPen. The corrective measures have also been required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which faulted the company earlier this year for an ad it said...
