Conservative Groups Press Congress To Kill Wind Credit

Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 6:27 PM EST) -- A coalition of conservative groups pressed Congress on Thursday to let a popular tax incentive for wind energy lapse at the end of the year, claiming it distorts power markets and could even threaten grid reliability.

The measure, called the production tax credit, or PTC, has helped wind developers attract investment by offering a credit of 2.2 cents per kilowatt-hour for the energy produced in a wind installation’s first decade of operation.
