Obama Taps John Kerry For Secretary Of State

Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 3:39 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Friday nominated former presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to be the next U.S. secretary of state, replacing outgoing Hillary Clinton as the country's top diplomat.

The senior senator from Massachusetts, Kerry is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and, after United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice removed herself from consideration for the job earlier this month, was widely speculated to be Obama's top pick.
