FDA Pushes Genetically Modified Salmon Closer To Approval

Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 6:49 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration found Friday that genetically modified salmon made by AquaBounty Technologies Inc. is as safe to eat as other salmon, moving the agency closer to its first approval of a genetically modified animal for human consumption.

The FDA concluded that the production of AquAdvantage Salmon would not have a significant impact on the environment in a draft environmental assessment and another document.
