Marvell Vows New Mistrial Bid After $1.2B Patent Verdict

Law360, New York (January 2, 2013, 6:15 PM EST) -- Marvell Technology Group Ltd. said Wednesday it intends to renew its motion for a mistrial a week after a Pennsylvania federal jury awarded nearly $1.2 billion in damages to Carnegie Mellon University in a patent infringement dispute over the school’s disk drive technology.

In a joint status report filed in district court in Pittsburgh, Marvell asked that judgment not be entered on the verdict until the company’s post-trial motions — including requests for a new trial, and a motion for judgment as a matter of law...
