Chile's High Court OKs Terpel Asset Sale To Quinenco

Law360, New York (January 3, 2013, 7:46 PM EST) -- Chile's Supreme Court on Wednesday reportedly gave its approval to Chilean conglomerate Quinenco SA’s planned acquisition of the Chilean assets of Colombian fuel company Terpel, overruling an antitrust court’s prior decision.

The country’s highest court annulled an April ruling by Chile's Competition Tribunal, known as the TDLC, which had blocked the deal over concerns that Quinenco and Chilean energy and forestry giant Empresas Copec SA, which indirectly controls Terpel, both have a high rate of participation in Chile’s fuel market, according to Dow Jones.
