China Fines Major LCD Players $56M On Price-Fixing Claims

Law360, New York (January 4, 2013, 3:37 PM EST) -- China on Friday hit LG Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and four Taiwanese makers of liquid crystal display screens with more than $56 million in fines on claims of price-fixing, becoming the latest country to take the LCD industry to task over alleged competition violations.

China’s National Development and Reform Commission said that between 2001 and 2006, representatives from LG, Samsung, Innolux Corp., AU Optronics Ltd., Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. and HannStar Display Corp. met several times to discuss the prices of LCD panels.
