Health Spending Still Growing, But Slowly, Report Says

Law360, New York (January 7, 2013, 8:08 PM EST) -- The nation's total health spending grew 3.9 percent in 2011, the third consecutive year of relatively low spending growth, according to an annual health expenditure report released Monday, as Congress gets ready to tackle the deficit in part by reducing the federal government's health spending.

Health spending by the federal government, state and local governments, private insurers, businesses and private households amounted to $2.7 trillion in 2011, a 3.9 percent increase over 2010 spending.
