Federal Circuit Rejects Sony Patent Application

Law360 (November 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An appeals court ruled on Monday that a patent application by inventors at Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. for a program to manage multi-user online applications was anticipated by another patent, upholding the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s decision to reject the claim.

“Obviously, I respectfully disagree with their decision, and I will be consulting with my client about how we wish to handle the matter from here,” said Colby Springer, an attorney with Carr & Ferrel LLP who represented the inventors.
