Pa. Pol Says She'll Push For State Minimum Wage Hike

Law360, Philadelphia (January 9, 2013, 2:26 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania state lawmaker recently reappointed to the Senate Labor and Industry Committee said Tuesday that she would pursue legislation in the coming year to boost the state’s minimum wage by tying rates of pay to inflation.

While Sen. Christine Tartaglione, D-Philadelphia, has pursued similar measures in the past unsuccessfully, a spokeswoman for the legislator told Law360 that efforts in neighboring New Jersey to increase pay rates could force Republican lawmakers in Pennsylvania to seriously consider amending the state’s own wage laws.
