US Takes Indonesia To WTO Over Import Restrictions

Law360, New York (January 10, 2013, 3:05 PM EST) -- The U.S. lodged a formal challenge with the World Trade Organization on Thursday over Indonesian restrictions on plant and animal products that American trade regulators say discriminate against foreign goods.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said his office had asked the WTO for bilateral consultations with Indonesia over its system of nonautomatic import licensing requirements for fruits, vegetables, meats, animal products, flowers, dried fruits and other goods.
