Alaska Gov. Pushes FERC To Speed Review Of Hydro Project

Law360, New York (January 11, 2013, 8:28 PM EST) -- Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell on Thursday urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to speed up its environmental review of the proposed 600-megawatt Susitna-Watana hydroelectric dam, saying delays by the regulator could imperil the success of the project.

According to Parnell’s letter, dated Wednesday but publicly released Thursday, FERC’s recent decision to delay until mid-May its review of 13 of 58 Alaska Energy Authority environmental studies necessary for the hydroelectric project to go forward, citing a lack of necessary information, could harm the ability of the dam project...
