Applied's Discovery Plea Denied In Trade Secrets Suit

Law360, New York (November 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge on Monday refused to expedite discovery in an ongoing trade secrets case between semiconductor maker Applied Materials Inc. and its Chinese rival Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Co. Ltd.

The case, first filed in mid-October, alleges that certain former employees of Applied went to China to start a new company, taking several of Applied’s trade secrets with them.

According to Applied, Gerald Z. Yin, AiHua Chen, Ryoii Todoka and Lee Luo were all employees who, while at Applied, had access to highly sensitive Applied trade...
