College Claims Cisco Stole 'Tomorrow Starts Here' Slogan

Law360, New York (January 11, 2013, 12:08 PM EST) -- East Carolina University hit Cisco Systems Inc. with a trademark infringement suit in North Carolina federal court Friday, accusing the technology giant of stealing the school's “Tomorrow Starts Here" slogan.

The Greenville, N.C.-based school alleges Cisco launched a $100 million advertising campaign based on the slogan last month, despite the fact that the college has trademarked the motto and has been using it as the university's marketing tagline since 2002.
