Toyota’s Prius and Lexus Under Fire In European Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 19, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Toyota’s hybrid Prius has been drawing attention from consumers and patent holding companies alike, with yet another small transmission company asserting an obscure patent against the car maker.

The Japanese automaker, which was sued earlier this year in a German patent court, is going to trial this week over transmissions in its popular Prius hybrid sedan. The suit was brought by the Dutch technology and licensing company Antonov Automotive Technology BV, which is asserting its prized transmission patent.
