Madoff Victims Lose 2nd Bid to See Simpson Thacher Files

Law360, New York (January 14, 2013, 6:00 PM EST) -- A Maine federal judge on Monday affirmed a magistrate judge’s refusal to allow two investors access to correspondence between Spring Mountain Capital LP and the investment firm's counsel Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in an ongoing civil suit over money lost through Bernard L. Madoff's $20 billion Ponzi scheme.

U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. said the document requests by investors Daniel Goldenson and his wife were protected by attorney-client privilege.
