Dingell Lays Out Details Of CAFE Compromise

Law360 (November 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), the chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and a major supporter of the auto industry, said he was open to a compromise on one of the issues that have prevented this year’s energy bill from becoming law.

In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), dated Nov. 13 and made public Tuesday, Dingell said he would support raising Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards as long as certain “areas of concern” were addressed.
