Brewer Merger Stirs Up Antitrust Concerns

Law360, New York (November 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A potential union between SABMiller Plc and Molson Coors Brewing Co. has come under regulatory scrutiny, with the U.S. Department of Justice issuing a second request for information on the brewers’ agreement to forge a joint venture of their U.S. and Puerto Rican businesses.

The second request for information, announced by the companies Nov. 20, will extend the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvement Act until 30 days after the companies comply with the DOJ’s request.
