Biz Groups Push Back Against SEC 'Conflict Minerals' Rule

Law360, New York (January 17, 2013, 3:54 PM EST) -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and two other business groups on Wednesday in the D.C. Circuit fleshed out their challenge to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission disclosure requirement for companies using “conflict minerals,” accusing the regulator of failing to justify the rule or provide reasonable exemptions.

The opening brief, jointly filed with the D.C. Circuit by the Business Roundtable and the National Association of Manufacturers, acknowledges that the SEC was obligated by the Dodd-Frank Act to craft a rule and “may have had good intentions”...
