Lawmakers Demand Content, Ad Info From Energy Drink Cos.

Law360, New York (January 17, 2013, 6:07 PM EST) -- Three Democratic congressmen said Thursday that energy drink companies are confusing young consumers by making broad claims and blurring their products' classifications, and asked them to provide ingredient data and explain their marketing campaigns.

Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., sent letters to more than a dozen companies including Red Bull GmbH, PepsiCo Inc. and Monster Beverage Corp.
