Unlikely Alliance Threatens LNG Export Projects

Law360, New York (January 18, 2013, 9:17 PM EST) -- As the Department of Energy weighs whether to authorize the first liquefied natural gas exports from the continental U.S., an unlikely alliance among industry groups, environmental organizations and powerful lawmakers could thwart projects awaiting approval.

A DOE-commissioned study released in December found that LNG exports could carry a range of economic benefits, and it has paved the way for the agency to authorize at least some of the 15 export applications before it.
