Pa. Lawmakers Push Right-To-Work Law To Cut Union Clout

Law360, Philadelphia (January 22, 2013, 5:31 PM EST) -- Following on the heels of Michigan and Indiana, a group of Pennsylvania lawmakers and business leaders introduced legislation Tuesday that would make Pennsylvania the next right-to-work state, allowing workers to choose whether or not to join labor unions.

In a news conference helmed by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Butler, the lawmakers and leaders assailed the continuing power of unions to compel membership, arguing that the bills encompassing the Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative would make the state more competitive with its neighbors.
