UN Increases N. Korea Sanctions After Rocket Launch

Security Council on Tuesday ratcheted up sanctions against North Korea following the country's December launch of a multistage rocket, expanding an existing travel ban and asset freeze to include additional North Korean officials and agencies.

The 15-member U.N. council, which includes the U.S. and China, unanimously approved a resolution to tighten sanctions in light of the rocket launch, targeting North Korean officials who are associated with the country's missile launch facility and satellite control center, the U.N. said in a statement.
