Chinese Paper-Shredder Cos. Face ITC Probe Over Knockoffs

Law360, New York (January 22, 2013, 5:02 PM EST) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission on Tuesday launched an investigation into Fellowes Inc.'s allegations that Chinese companies stole its intellectual property and imported knockoff paper shredders.

The trade body said it would probe whether six Chinese companies and three individuals breached Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing shredders that infringe Fellowes' design patents and exploit stolen trade secrets.

The investigation follows a complaint Fellowes filed last month claiming that one of its contract manufacturers in China, Changzhou Jinsen Electrical Appliance Co. Ltd.,...
