US Trade Rep. Kirk To Step Down In Late February

Law360, New York (January 22, 2013, 7:29 PM EST) -- Ambassador Ron Kirk said Tuesday that he intends to step down from his post as U.S. Trade Representative in February, creating a vacuum at the top of the agency that a source said may be filled by one of two front-runners currently working in the Obama administration.

On the short list to succeed Kirk are Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs Lael Brainard and Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economic Affairs Michael Froman, a Washington, D.C.-based source told...
