Korean President Approves Samsung Bribery Probe

Law360, New York (November 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- While battling claims that he and his aides may have been bribed by Samsung Group, South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun agreed on Tuesday to an independent investigation of the corruption scandal rocking one of the world's biggest electronics conglomerates.

The country's national assembly voted last week for legislation that would force the investigation to take place, saying that an independent counsel was needed since state prosecutors could have possibly been tainted by bribes as well.
