Simpson Thacher Guides KKR's Buy In Risk Investment Firm

Law360, New York (January 24, 2013, 1:05 PM EST) -- Private equity powerhouse KKR & Co. LP has scooped up a substantial minority stake in a Bermuda investment manager whose $8 billion in assets are largely insurance-linked securities tied to natural disaster and weather risk, the buyer said late Wednesday.

In the deal, KKR took a 24.9 percent interest in Nephila Capital Ltd. for an undisclosed price. The New York firm bought its share from British alternative asset manager Man Group PLC, which through the sale cut its ownership to 18.75 percent. KKR said its buy-in...
