Pa. Gov. Ties $1B School Funding To Liquor Privatization

Law360, Philadelphia (January 30, 2013, 5:28 PM EST) -- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett on Wednesday unveiled a sweeping plan that would completely privatize the state’s liquor system and funnel $1 billion in proceeds to public schools, citing broad public support for the move. 

The plan would sell both wholesale and retail operations for liquor and wine sales — which are currently both controlled by the state — and would also expand consumers' options for purchasing beer, wine and spirits.
