Virgin-Skywest Tie-Up Cleared For Takeoff In Australia

Law360, New York (January 31, 2013, 5:03 PM EST) -- Australia's antitrust authority said Thursday it would not challenge Virgin Australia Holdings Ltd.'s acquisition of Skywest Airlines (Australia) Pty. Ltd., allowing the two companies to move forward with the deal.

After finding the acquisition was not likely to harm competition, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has closed its investigation into the Virgin Australia-Skywest deal, which Virgin Australia announced in October, the ACCC said in a statement.
