Enviro Cos., Beware Of More EPA Criminal Enforcement

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 1:13 PM EST) -- The recent release of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency results of enforcement and compliance statistics for the fiscal year 2012, ending on Sept. 30, 2012, confirms that criminal prosecution remains an important component of the EPA’s enforcement program. These statistics show a slight drop in the number of criminal investigations initiated — 320 in fiscal year 2012 down from 371 fiscal year 2011.
