Fla. Gov.'s Budget Would Ease Strain On Court System

Law360, Miami (February 1, 2013, 9:35 PM EST) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott's proposed budget, released Thursday, would allocate an additional $11 million in badly needed funding for the state's court system that should help ease its backlog and attend to some critical infrastructure issues, the courts administrator said.

The governor's proposal is a “good start,” according to state courts administrator Lisa Goodner, who said she hopes the legislature will adopt the measures — which include $6 million to ease the backlog of foreclosure cases and $4.4 million for 20 new judges and their support...
