UK Firms Cut Payrolls As Recession Woes Linger

Law360, New York (February 1, 2013, 7:39 PM EST) -- The pace of law firm layoffs in the United Kingdom has accelerated in recent weeks as partners, faced with stagnant growth and a stubborn recession, try to gird themselves for another tough year, industry watchers said Friday.

After what is being called the worst quarter in the London legal market since 2010, three international firms — DLA Piper, Eversheds LLP and Allen & Overy LLP — said last month that that they would lose a total of about 450 positions in the U.K.
