Silicon Wafer Co.'s Superfund Coverage Demand Falls Flat

Law360, New York (February 5, 2013, 7:32 PM EST) -- A federal magistrate judge ruled Monday that Employers Insurance Co. of Wausau had no duty to continue defending silicon wafer manufacturer Siltronic AG against claims related to the cleanup of a Portland, Ore.-area Superfund site.

Federal magistrate Judge Janice M. Stewart determined that Wausau had exhausted the six policies it sold to Siltronic by paying the company $6 million in indemnity costs in response to actions by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
