Miss. Health Exchange Rejected Due To Gov.'s Opposition

Law360, New York (February 8, 2013, 5:51 PM EST) -- Federal regulators rejected the Mississippi insurance commissioner's application to run a state-based health insurance exchange in a letter Friday, saying the governor's opposition made an approval impossible and suggesting the state try a partnership exchange instead.

Mississippi is the only state to have applied to run a state-based exchange and been turned down. Under the Affordable Care Act, each state will have an exchange run by either the state or federal government, or a combination of both.
