EU Leaders Support Free Trade Pact With US, EC Head Says

Law360, New York (February 8, 2013, 5:01 PM EST) -- The head of the European Commission on Friday said that European leaders have agreed to seek a free trade agreement with the U.S., vowing that such a far-reaching deal would go beyond tariff issues by integrating markets and removing barriers.

In a speech following a meeting of the European Council, EC President José Manuel Durão Barroso said that EU leaders have endorsed the EC’s trade agenda, which includes a push for a transatlantic free trade pact.
