EU Antitrust Regulators Raid Fruit Companies

Law360, New York (December 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- European Commission antitrust regulators paid surprise visits to several of the world's largest exotic fruit companies last week to investigate allegations that the the companies conspired to fix prices.

The commission did not disclose the companies targeted in the series of raids, which were staged between Wednesday and Friday. But Chiquita Brands International confirmed that regulators requested information from the company. Irish banana company Fyffes Plc said that it had not been raided.
