UK Investigates Autonomy's Finances Before HP Deal

Law360, New York (February 11, 2013, 12:46 PM EST) -- Britain's accounting regulator said Monday that it was investigating the financial reports of software company Autonomy Corp., which Hewlett-Packard Co. bought for $10 billion but now accuses of lying about its financial health.

The Financial Reporting Council said in a brief statement that it had started a probe of Autonomy's published financial reports from Jan. 1, 2009, through June 30, 2011. The regulator decided to launch an investigation after consulting with trade group The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the council said....
