Supreme Court Grants Cert In Coal Tax Refund Case

Law360, New York (December 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear a case in which three coal mining units of TECO Energy Inc. are trying to get additional interest on the recovery of an illegally levied tax.

By granting certiorari to the U.S. government, the Supreme Court keeps alive a case that was decided this January by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Oral argument will be held next spring, and a decision is expected in July, Dow Jones reported.
