NC Gov. Opposes Medicaid Expansion, Health Exchange

Law360, New York (February 12, 2013, 3:10 PM EST) -- North Carolina’s newly elected Republican governor said Tuesday that the state won’t take part in Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act and backed away from his predecessor’s pursuit of a joint state-federal health insurance exchange, citing funding concerns and insufficient preparation.

Gov. Pat McCrory said Medicaid's widening pool of red ink would make it irresponsible to enlarge the program for low-income residents without first overhauling the state’s approach.
