States Ask 8th Circ. To Pause ACA Contraception Rule Appeal

Law360, New York (February 12, 2013, 6:55 PM EST) -- Nebraska and six other states challenging the Affordable Care Act's contraception mandate asked the Eighth Circuit on Friday to temporarily halt the case until the administration issues final rules on the mandate.

The appellants, who also include individuals and Catholic nonprofit organizations, claim the mandate, which requires most health plans to offer contraception and other services free of charge, violates their religious freedom.
