Learning Resources Sues LeapFrog Over Toy Trademark

Law360, New York (November 22, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Learning Resources sued rival LeapFrog Enterprises, the third-largest U.S. toy company, claiming that LeapFrog's "Pretend & Learn" products infringe on its "Pretend & Play" toys.

According to the lawsuit, Learning Resources has used the "Pretend & Play" mark since 1992 for toys such as cash registers and telephones.

LeapFrog tried unsuccessfully to register the "Pretend & Learn" mark, Bloomberg News reported.

Learning Resources' "Pretend & Play" series features toy sets to help kids play doctors, builders, shop clerks and royalty, among other things.
