Calif. Rep. Calls For Broader FMLA, Plus Paid Leave

Law360, New York (February 13, 2013, 6:50 PM EST) -- Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., called on fellow lawmakers Wednesday not only to extend the Family and Medical Leave Act's protections to all Americans, but also look at ways to guarantee workers' access to paid leave.  

Rep. Miller, the senior Democrat on the House Education and the Workforce Committee, said in a speech on the House floor that although the FMLA has been used more than 100 million times since its was enacted two decades ago, many workers cannot take advantage of the law.
