Rosneft's New Exxon Deal Could Make It A Player In Alaska

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 2:52 PM EST) -- Rosneft OAO is eyeing a piece of North America's Arctic gas reserves after Exxon Mobil Corp. on Wednesday expanded an agreement with the Russian energy titan, giving it an option to buy a 25 percent stake in an Alaskan gas field.

The deal builds on a 2011 cooperation agreement between the companies, giving Rosneft a chance to cash in on Exxon's Point Thomson field. Estimates have pegged the site's natural gas reserves around 8 trillion cubic feet — about a quarter of the total recoverable gas...
