Key Pa. Panel OKs Bill Promoting Mine Water Use In Fracking

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 6:06 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Senate's environmental and energy committee on Tuesday unanimously approved legislation that would limit the liability of landowners and mine operators that reuse mine water for hydraulic fracturing in oil and gas well development.

Senate Bill 411, introduced by Sen. Richard A. Kasunic, D-Fayette-Somerset, is aimed at curbing water pollution by providing essential liability protections for entities that develop acid mine water treatment systems used for oil and gas well development or other industrial uses.
