UK Antitrust Cop To Probe Britvic's $2.2B Bid For AG Barr

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 3:24 PM EST) -- The U.K.’s Competition Commission on Thursday said it will investigate British drink company Britvic PLC’s proposed £1.4 billion ($2.2 billion) tie-up with its smaller rival A.G. Barr PLC, after the country’s Office of Fair Trading raised concerns about reduced competition for certain soft drink brands.

A.G. Barr’s brands include Orangina, KA, Rubicon and Irn-Bru cola, which is particularly popular in Scotland. Britvic purveys drinks such as PepsiCo products, Robinsons, Fruit Shoot and Tango, according to the OFT.
