Pa. DEP Touts Efficiency Boost Following New Permit Process

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 4:16 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said Thursday that it has issued timely permit decisions in nearly 98 percent of cases and reduced its application backlog by 39 percent since it instituted a controversial new environmental permit decision policy in November.

In a progress report, the DEP says that under its new permit review process and permit decision guarantee policy, it has reduced its processing time in several sectors, increasing its permit review efficiency by 74 percent for mining programs and 68 percent for water programs,...
