House Panel Demands To See FIO's Overdue Insurance Report

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 3:51 PM EST) -- In laying out its insurance oversight plan Thursday, the House Financial Services Committee urged the Federal Insurance Office to deliver a long-overdue report on modernizing U.S. regulation, one that state regulators worry will diminish their roles in overseeing the industry.

Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, who took over the committee in January, said in his proposed oversight plan that the FIO had repeatedly missed statutory deadlines imposed by the Dodd-Frank Act for reports on insurance, including a January 2012 deadline for a report providing recommendations for improving...
