Pa. PUC Aims To Boost Competition In Retail Electricity Market

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 8:50 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission on Thursday unanimously agreed to revisit its customer-switching regulations and finalized recommendations that default service providers decrease the length of their electricity supply portfolios in an effort to nudge consumers toward the state's retail electricity market. 

The commission said that while 2 million Pennsylvania customers currently participate in the retail electricity market, increasing that number would bring greater savings for the state's electricity customers and encourage electricity suppliers to participate in the state's retail market.
