In Unusual Step, U.K. Patent Office Begins Issuing Non-Binding Opinions On Patent Validity

Law360 (October 3, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Patent litigation in the U.K. may become quicker and less expensive, due to a new service implemented by the Patent Office. On Oct. 1, the Patent Office began issuing non-binding opinions on the validity or infringement of any of its patents.

The new service could make the U.K. patent regime markedly different from the patent regime of most countries.
