Govs. Ask DOI Nominee To Ease Offshore Drilling Policy

Law360, New York (February 15, 2013, 4:20 PM EST) -- A group of Republican governors on Thursday urged Sally Jewell, the nominee to become Interior secretary, to open federal waters in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the mid-Atlantic to oil and gas leasing if she wins confirmation.

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell told Jewell in a letter that Obama administration policies have restricted key areas of the Outer Continental Shelf and called on her to re-examine them.
